MUNICIPAL SOCIAL WELFARE AND DEVELOPMENT OFFICE (MSWDO)
The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office is mandated to provide social welfare services to the constituents of the municipality. It is one of the departments that is mandated by Executive Order 123 to address poverty-related concerns and committed to the care, protection and rehabilitation of individuals, groups, families and communities.
FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT
- The Office on Social Welfare and Development is the social welfare arm of the Municipal Government mandated by Local Government Code of 1991 to address poverty-related concerns and committed to the care, protection and rehabilitation of individuals, families, groups and communities.
OBJECTIVES
- Develop and implement appropriate measures to alleviate problems and living conditions of the needy, disadvantaged, and impoverished constituents of the Municipality.
- Provide relief and appropriate crisis intervention for victims of abuse and exploitation and recommend appropriate measures to deter further abuse and exploitation.
- Implement barangay level program for the total development and protection of children.
- Implement welfare programs for the persons with disability, elderly, victims of drug addiction, rehabilitation of prisoners and parolees, prevention of juvenile delinquency and such other activities which would eliminate or minimize the ill-effects of poverty.
- Initiate and support youth welfare programs that will enhance the role of the youth in nation building.
- Coordinate with government agencies and non-government organizations which have for their purpose the promotion and protection for the needy, disadvantaged, impoverished groups or individuals and those identified to be vulnerable and high risk to exploitation, abuse and neglect.
- Be in the frontline of service of delivery during and in the aftermath of man-made and natural disaster.
- Recommend to the Sanggunian and advise the mayor on all matters related to social welfare and development services.
